Transfer Week!

This week is transfers! I'm so nervous. I'll find out tomorrow where
I'll be. I'm praying for one more transfer in this area. I love it so
much where I am at! But I know the Lord is over the work and I'll go
wherever He needs me.

Before I go on with this past week, I forgot to announce something so
exciting that happened last Sunday! History was made and a new stake
was created....THE FAR WEST STAKE! This is the first time there has
been a Far West stake since the early saints lived there! The work
really is hastening!!!

This week was pretty rough. Most of our appointments fell through...
It's so hard to feel like a successful missionary when that happens.
But everyone has agency...

We did get to see our new investigator, Kevin! Honestly, the best
lesson I've had so far on my mission! It was so awesome and the spirit
was SO strong! He really opened up and shared a lot with us and we
showed him the Mormon message "the Savior wants to forgive" and he was
crying. It was so awesome. He is reading the Book of Mormon and
progressing really well. We love Kevin!

We also got to see Jill! We caught her at home and she told us she
really wants to be baptized!!! She is just struggling with the concept
of Joseph Smith. So we are hoping we will be able to work on that with
her and get her towards being baptized!!

Saturday we went to two baptisms which was way awesome as well! I love
seeing people enter the waters of baptism. It's a testimony to me that
the atonement is for EVERYONE!

Hope you're all doing well! Love you all!!

So Blessed!

Hello everyone! This week was so amazing so I'll go ahead and get
started telling you about it!

On Thursday, we got the AMAZING opportunity to go to Adam-Ondi-Ahman!
Oh my goodness it is beautiful. Literally, it is nothing but fields
and trees, but the spirit there is SO real. It feels like a temple.
Actually, that's how they introduced us to the valley. They said "this
is an outside temple. Treat it as such." Thinking about all the stuff
that has happened there and all the things that will happen there gave
me chills. One day, when the big sacrament meeting happens there, I
want to be there! Brother Bonnett, the man who gave us our tour,
quoted something about the specialness of this place. The quote was
something along the lines of when people think about the Old
Testament, they usually think about Jerusalem and places like that,
but no one thinks of Missouri. But that's where Adam and Eve lived!
When they left Heavenly Father's presence, they went to
Adam-Ondi-Ahman. To be standing on that same ground was amazing! We
stood Preacher's Rock, where its speculated King Benjamin gave his
sermons as well as Joseph Smith. Brother Bonnett stood on the rock and
me and some other sisters walked a couple hundred yards away, and when
Brother Bonnett spoke, we heard him perfectly. It was incredible. All
the sisters stood on the rock and we sang our favorite song and it was
my favorite part of the whole day. The spirit was testifying to me of
the work I am doing and that it is His.

We had a couple of other neat experiences there, too. We went to
Spring Hill, where the temple site is dedicated there. We were the
first group to be let up on Spring Hill so that was a very special
moment. Then we went to Tower Hill, where a Nephitish altar was
found...chills all over! Adam-Ondi-Ahman is such a sacred place.

We also got to visit Far West as well. Far West has a dedicated temple
site and the missionaries who left from there are such good examples.
I'm so grateful I am serving in such a special place full of church
history! We got to drive to the location where Joseph Smith was
arrested and taken to Liberty Jail. I know that he is a prophet of God
and everything he did was for His work.

At our Friday Morning Training Meeting, we got to TALK TO SISTER
DALTON!!!! We are so spoiled here!!! It was just Sister Dalton and 28
of us sisters. It was the COOLEST thing ever. I've heard her talk in
conference plenty of times, but knowing she was talking just to us was
something so special. She talked a lot about being virtuous women. The
last thing she said to us was this: "Above everything else, remember
that one virtuous woman can change the world." We got to sing Be Still
My Soul for her and I was in tears the whole time (obviously).

After that, I went on exchanges to Kearney with Sister Pahuiri!
Kearney is BEAUTIFUL! It's a lot of farm land and big open lands. (Who
knew Missouri was pretty?!) Exchanges were way awesome and getting to
experience some full pros life was way fun. We did lots of service
which is always fun! Including decorating for a wedding :)

Saturday was the best day on my mission so far. We had a goal to get 2
new investigators during the week and we hadn't gotten any yet, so we
needed a miracle to happen. We decided we were going to talk to
everyone! We did and Heavenly Father blessed us so much! We got 2 new
investigators!!! Literally by talking to everyone. All of our
appointments fell through, except for one, so we were really just
trying to talk to people. When one of our appointments cancelled, the
spirit told me to go visit Dennis, which is really weird because we
never go see him because he is a single man. But I knew we needed to
go over so I told Sister Day and she was like let's go! So we went
over and he has a couple living with him now, so first miracle because
there was a girl there we could go in and sit down and talk with them.
We were talking to them all-the couples names are Kevin and Erin- and
they were talking about the change they have seen in Dennis and we
started talking with them about their lives. Kevin shared an
incredible experience he had that helped him gain his faith in God and
we gave him a Book of Mormon and he said he wants to learn more
because he can't just ignore this experience that he had. We were
definitely let to see him and meet him!

Alma 17: 9-11 says he will make us instruments in His hand as we are
patient in afflictions and work hard. Sister Day and I have been
trying so hard to find solid people and Kevin is one of the most
prepared people I have ever met. I can't wait to teach him!

I am so grateful for my mission and how much I've grown so far and how
much I will grow in the next 14 months. I love you all and hope you
have a wonderful week!

4 Months AND 20 Years old!

Hello family and friends! Saturday was a crazy day...4 months in the
mission and I turned 20!! I couldn't think of a better place to spend
my birthday! I am so grateful to be where I am and to be serving
Heavenly Father's children!

This past week, we tried to find some new people to teach and we ended
up finding 3 new investigators! The first lady's name is Naomi. Her
husband is a member but she has never gotten baptized. We stopped by
to visit them and see how they were doing and she told us she has been
reading the Book of Mormon but doesn't understand it very well. So we
were like well we can help you! We are going to her home tonight and I
am so excited!

We also started teaching a mom and a daughter named Genie and Jen.
They are trying to quit smoking and we told them we can definitely
help with that :) we taught them about the restoration and gave them
copies of the Book of Mormon to read. They also asked for one for
their niece because she seemed interested too! This was also my first
lesson I've given standing on a front porch :)

We saw Dennis this week!!! Dennis has been super super busy with work
so it's been a while since we have seen him, but it was so awesome to
meet with him again! He is really trying so hard to live the gospel
and it's so awesome to see that it is so important to him.

We also saw John this week, too! I know I've said this before, but
John always amazes me with his faith. No matter what, he knows that
his decision to be baptized was the right decision and I know that he
will always be blessed for that decision. His wife, Brea made me a
gluten free birthday cake too! It was such a sweet surprise!

On Friday we had zone training which was AMAZING. We have awesome zone
leaders. Our zone is setting some high goals for ourselves and I am
really excited to work together as a zone and with the Lord to
bringing miracles to pass here in Independence! We really have been
focusing on talking to everyone a lot. Really talking to EVERYONE.
This might be my favorite part of missionary work because everyone has
a story and everyone is so different and I love meeting new people!
And I know Heavenly Father is preparing people so as I do talk to
everyone I'll eventually find them :)

My birthday was so special. That was the day we met Genie and Jen! We
were led to them for sure. A senior couple here took us out to lunch!
Elder and Sister Seaman :) It was Sister Seaman's birthday too! And
then a couple people from our ward got me some ice cream too. I was
definitely taken care of :)

I want you all to know that I am SO happy! I am experiencing miracles
every single day and I love being His servant. I love you all so much
and hope you have a wonderful week!

Spiritually Fed

This week was AMAZING! I was able to be spiritually fed this whole
week. We had zone conference AND general conference! I was spoiled
with the spirit this week! I hope you all enjoyed conference! Can't
you just feel their spirit so strongly? Especially President
Monson...watching him bear that powerful testimony. It was a testimony
to me that he is a prophet called of God! And he will continue to do
His work until he has accomplished all that Heavenly Father wants him
to do.

A couple weeks ago, this girl came into the visitors center named
Kellie. Sister Day and I weren't at the VC at the time, but another
sister called us to tell us about her. Kellie just moved here to
Independence about a month ago from Blue Springs (a little town
outside of Independence). She is 23 but hasn't been to church since
she was 12. But she wants to come back into the church! So we went
over to her house and taught her and she is so sweet! And she is so
excited to come back to church! We love her and we can't wait to help
her come back!

We are also working with another less active member named Darwon. He
is the cutest man ever!! He is in his late 60s but has been inactive
since he was 19! He is just so sweet and interested and loves visiting
with the missionaries! He has a lot of health problems, so we found
him the Book of Mormon on cd so he can start listening to it.

On Friday, we had our zone conference! It was in Lenexa, Kansas! So
now I can say I have been to Kansas too! The zone conference was
amazing. The theme was based on 3 Nephi 5:13, becoming a consecrated
missionary. We had some amazing trainings. I am so grateful for my
mission president! And I love looking around and being surrounded by
so many missionaries all trying to be the best disciples of Christ we
can. It's so awesome! President Vest asked Elder Anderson and I to do
a musical number for it. I'll attach a little clip to the email of the
song :) it is such a pretty version of my favorite hymn! We performed
it and then at the end of the conference, President asked us to do it
as the closing hymn and have all the missionaries join on the last
verse. It was sooooo powerful. Why is music so amazing?!

And then General conference was so amazing! All of the talks were SO
GOOD! Usually, one stands out to me, but this time so many were so
good I can't choose! One talk that I really liked a lot was Elder
Lawrence. I find myself way to critical of my progress but I love when
he said "He rejoices every time we take a step forward. Our direction
is way more important to Him than our speed." So true!! As long as we
are trying, He is happy, and He will help us!

The weather here has changed to fall weather! YAY! I am so happy! Fall
is the best time of year and it is so beautiful here! All the trees
are changing colors and it is cool and crisp outside which is the
best! Perfect to start of birthday week!!!

Well I love you all so much and I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Already feeling the birthday love from her Gram and Papa!

Have I told you we have the coolest mission president?!!!!

The Taula's-my adoptive grandparents!  I love them so much!  They are so full of love and help us so much!

Yay!!!  Fall weather-my favorite
